Bring on the doom and gloom soothsayers. Many webmasters are claiming that they are seeing the Google caffeine update on about 80% of Google’s datacenters. Whether it is an update or not, there are definite changes going on in the Google indexes and it is affecting site rankings.

I agree and disagree. I see the cup as 1/2 full, but there have been some challenges with SEO on new sites. Now we are calling Caffeine Google Buzz (as far as I can tell). I really like how things are coming together as far as the Profile pages and the social site integrations. I just think they are moving too slowly and that they could tweak their algorithm, so that the Twitter posts are all read - it would move them quickly, but at least it does now seem so selective as it does not. I have tested myself on different accounts and think that the first account on an IP is the tweet that shows.

Google make it harder for SEO's to do their job to rank their client's sites in the top as they integrate not only the algorithm but also the search quality for the users.

Very cool! Although I think Google wants us all guessing 'after the fact' to determine what they have done behind the great Google Cloud of Mystery. Will be very interesting to see how this rolls out in the long term.

Thanks!
